The Brisbane Bandits are excited to announce that left handed pitcher, Lewis Thorpe will be joining the Brisbane Bandits this season.

Thorpe was signed by the Minnesota Twins off the back of his season in Melbourne in 2013, at the young age of 17. He played for the Gulf Coast Twins in Rookie Ball. Thorpe was moved up by the Twins in 2014 and played with the Cedar Rapid Kernels in the Low A Midwest League where Lewis became the youngest player in the league. Thorpe then underwent surgery and spent the 2015 and 2016 season recovering. However, in 2017 Lewis made his comeback in High A with the Fort Myers Miracles and quickly progressed to play AA with the Chattanooga Lookouts in the Southern League.

The Twins appropriately rewarded Thorpe's impressive comeback to the game by adding him to their 40-man roster following the 2017 season.

More recently, Thorpe played AA with the Chattanooga Lookouts where he was selected to represent the Minnesota Twins in the 2018 MLB All Star Futures Game.

The Brisbane Bandits have no doubt that Lewis Thorpe will be a valuable addition to the team on the quest to take the championship title for the fourth consecutive time.

CEO Mark Ready commented "We've been following Lewis's rise for the past 12 months, he's featured in three reports from my International Affairs & Scouting Director, Adrian Lamb in the last 12 months alone. He pushed me to press the button in late June. It wasn't a hard push in the end, Lewis has been so impressive and has played with a few Bandits through the Twins system so he's just a natural fit."

Lamb said "We are closely tracking all Australian talent in the MILB system, there is a lot of promise that we would like to put our Bandits culture stamp on."

We welcome Lewis Thorpe to the Brisbane Bandits family this season.
