The Australian Baseball League confirms an eight-team league for the 2018/2019 season with the inclusion of New Zealand and South-Korean teams.

With new structural announcements emerging from the Australian Baseball League the nation can look forward being the first domestic Australian sporting league to shift to a conference model similar to the structures used in major sporting leagues in the United States of America.

The Australian Baseball League explains, "The eight teams will form two conferences playing a 160-game season across 10 weeks. Each team will play eight home and away games against the other three teams in its conference, with cross-conference teams matching up in a single, four-game series each season."

Brisbane Bandits, Principal Owner, Mark Ready comments, "These are exciting times, this is the best thing to happen to baseball in our country. The new structural agreement will cut down on league travelling costs; for the fans it will be business as usual but with added glitz and glamour as the private owners inject more spice into each franchise."

More details on the new structure can be found on the Official Site of the Australian Baseball League website.
