The Brisbane Bandits are excited to announce the signing of right handed pitcher, Hung Wen Chen. Chen is a former Minor League player spending 2007 to 2011 with the Chicago Cubs. In this time he led the Daytona Cubs to the Florida State League finals in 2008.

Since 2011 Chen has played with Brother Elephants in the CPBL in Taiwan. Over the last 6 years Chen has represented his country in the world baseball classic, playing for the Taiwan National Baseball team in 2009, 2013 and 2017.

Hung Wen Chen brings a decade worth of quality baseball experience and will bring even more depth to our already well-balanced pitching staff.

Mark Ready shared "We are super excited to add Chen to our already exciting pitching roster. He worked through the Cubs system playing with Ryan Searle at the Cubs AA Tennessee Smokies and he's been a long time Bandits supporter. His nickname is Caballo Loco which translates as Crazy Horse All I can say is get ready for the ride this is going to be fun."

Acquiring Chen to the Brisbane Bandits line up not only increases our capacity as a pitching staff but will also generate more attention for the Bandits with our growing Taiwanese fan base. The Bandits have lead the season in live stream views on ABL.tv and with the inclusion of Chen to the Bandits roster will continue to grow our every popular interest in Taiwan.

We hope you can catch all the action this weekend as the Brisbane Bandits take on the Sydney Blue Sox at home. This weekend all of our games are live streamed so wherever you are in the world, you can tune and cheer on our Bandits.
