Aces add velocity to their bullpen
11/07/2017 7:09 PM ET

Right-handed reliever Christian Meister is the latest player to join the Aces 2017/18 roster after the 24-year-old has arrived in Melbourne to prepare for the upcoming season.

Drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 29th round of the 2015 Draft, Meister played two years of Minor league baseball before being released at the end of the 2016 season.

In 42 appearances across Rookie Ball, Short A and Full A levels of minor league baseball, Meister would post a 4.10 career ERA in 79.0 innings, used mostly out of the bullpen.

Not one to give up on his dreams to make it all the way to The Show, Meister has been working within the Driveline Academy to further increase the velocity of his fastball which now sits in the mid to high 90s.

At 6'3'' (190cm) and 210 pounds (95kg), Meister is an imposing figure on the mound and at only 24 years of age, comes to Melbourne looking to re-launch his career back in the States.

It's unclear how he'll be used by Jon Deeble this season, but expect him to be used out of the pen late in games with his extra velocity meaning he's perhaps suited to a set up and/or closing role.
