Young talent signed to Blue Sox

SYDNEY - The Sydney Blue Sox are excited to release their list of Development Players for the upcoming season. The following players will be a part of the team for the 2017/18 season:

Rixon Taylor-Wingrove is a 17-year-old Infielder who recently represented Australia at the 2017 u18 World Cup. In the tournament, the left-handed hitter had a .280 batting average with 1 home run and 5 RBI's across 8 games in the tournament.

Nick Anderson-Vine also participated in the tournament alongside Wingrove. The 18-year-old Outfielder also appeared in the 8 games where he hit for an impressive .385 average with 4 stolen bases.

Infielder Dylan Mitchell joins our ranks from Blacktown Workers State League where he plays shortstop and has an exciting future ahead of him.

Liam Holm, a left-handed pitcher, was also a member of the Australian team at the u18 World Cup. Holm pitched 3 innings in the tournament, including an outing against the defending champion USA team.

Left-handed pitcher Alex Osborne is also a part of team this year. Last season Osborne appeared in one game for the team in which he pitched a scoreless inning with 1 strikeout against the Adelaide Bite.

Pitchers Josh Gessner and James Boeree were recently selected to be a part of the 2017 World Select Team at the Arizona Fall Classic. Gessner was also a part of the Australian team for the u18 World Cup.

Pitchers Mitchell Skinner & Daniel Myrmell were selected for the 2017 Australian Academy Program held on the Surfers Paradise which is run in partnership with Major League Baseball.

Manager Tony Harris said "This is a super exciting group of young players. We are able to have four players who recently represented Australia at the u18 World Cup, so the future of the Blue Sox is in great hands".
