The New South Wales teams put in an outstanding effort at the Australian Senior League Championships recently in Lismore. Hills took the Silver medal in a tough game against the undefeated Adelaide Armada.

In their first ever Australian Senior League National Championships, Greater Western performed remarkably. They ended their tournament with 4 wins from 7 games. Mark Thompson had one of the best plays in the tournament with a game-winning catch that was just shy of being a home run against fellow NSW team Ryde; sealing a historic win for the team. GWBA also had an impressive bullpen with Shannon Underhill; who struck out an impressive 7 batters in 3.2 innings on the mound against Western Meteors, as well as picking up two hits and an RBI; and Cody Godbold; who only gave up two hits and no earned runs in his 4.1 innings on the mound against Macarthur.

Macarthur had a tough tournament with a total 2 wins from 6 games. Macarthur had a strong bullpen all tournament shown by Lachlan Dean striking out 7 and scattering three hits in his time on the mound against GWBA. Rhys Dewick was exceptional in the batter's box who drove in two RBIs against Eastern Athletics and driving in 3 RBIs against GC Cougars.

Ryde also had a tough tournament with 2 wins from 6 games. Ryde had an impressive bullpen with some amazing work by Luke Livian, who threw scoreless final frame to seal a hard-fought victory for Ryde to secure a tight game against Western Meteors, and Ky Jackson, who only gave up two hits and struck out 9 in his six innings on the mound against Eastern Athletics. Ryde's offense matched their defence with impressive batting from Tom Pellow and Jack Dudley against Western Metros, and Luis Gonzalez, Jake Dargan and Liam Spinks who all nailed doubles against Eastern Athletics.

Hills ended their time at the tournament with the Silver Medal and 4 wins from 7 games. Caleb Shepherd got the tournament off to a flying start when he launched a three-run bomb that landed well over the trees in right field to help the team secure the win against GC Cougars. Shepherd continued to shine throughout the tournament with 2 RBIs in a close game against Adelaide Armada. Lachy McCarthy was another impressive batter in the Hills line-up as he drove in 4 of Hills' 7 runs, with two of his three hits extending to doubles against Macarthur. The outstanding offensive effort by Hills was backed up by a strong bullpen. Marcus had an impressive game against Eastern Athletics only gave up one run in the first half of his time on the mound and never looked back from their only giving up three hits and striking out 5 in his 6.2 innings of work. The man who claimed the loss in the 2016 Championship game against Southern Mariners, was given the honour of starting for Hills, and this time Sam Xotta's game was on point, as he struck out 7 and only scattered two hits in six innings on the mound against Southern Mariners
