PERTH, 10 January - The Brisbane Bandits have fallen to the Alcohol. Think Again Perth Heat 6-1 Friday night in Perth.
Both teams traded runs in the third inning as a Joey Rickard force out scored Brad Dutton in the top of the inning. Dutton had led off the inning with a single and had two of Brisbane's three hits for the game.
Perth would score two runs in the bottom of the inning as Joey Wong singled in George Barber, before being driven in himself by a Tucker Nathans RBI single.
The score would stay 2-1 until the bottom of the sixth inning when Perth catcher Allan de San Miguel connected for a three run home run off Andrew Aizenstadt to make it 5-1.
Craig Goodman came in relief of Aizenstadt with two outs in the sixth inning, and after giving up a single, struck out Joey Wong to end the inning. In the loss, Aizenstadt pitched 5-2/3 innings, giving up five runs (four earned) while striking out two.
Perth added to their lead in the seventh inning as Brandon Tripp hit his eighth home run of the year off Craig Goodman to make it 6-1. Goodman would pitch the remaining innings in relief striking out two batters for one run.
That would be it for the scoring as the Heat bullpen shut the Bandits down not allowing a hit for the remaining two innings.
With the loss Brisbane is now 14-22 and are four back from the third place Jet Couriers Melbourne Aces (18-18).
Game three Saturday night will see Ryan Searle take the mound for Brisbane, while Perth will counter with Daniel Schmidt. First pitch is set for 9:20pm AEST. You can watch the game on ABLTV.
