SYDNEY, 4 January - The Sydney Blue Sox will take a break from their Australian Baseball League, brought to you by 'Be The Influence: Tackling Binge Drinking' schedule when they play an exhibition game against the California Lutheran University Kingsmen on 8 January at Blacktown International Sportspark.
The Kingsmen, who are playing an Australian tour, will take on the Blue Sox in between Rounds 10 and 11 of ABL play. The game provides a good midweek workout for the Sox, who usually use Tuesdays as their training days.
"It'll be good for our boys to see some different competition," Blue Sox manager Jason Pospishil said. "It gives us a chance to see some live pitching and get some more game action in an exhibition setting as we prepare for the final three regular season rounds."
CLU competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III level and finished their 2012 season with a 23-15 record. The game, along with others they will play in Australia, serve as a warm up for their 2013 season, which begins in early February.
As with all Blue Sox home games, the game will be streamed live on iiNet Freezone, which can be accessed under the 'Multimedia' tab on the Blue Sox website as first pitch is set for 7:30 p.m. The Blue Sox continue ABL action tonight as they take on the Adelaide Bite proudly supported by SA Power Networks in game two of a four-game series after the Bite took game one last night.
